MUSIC FOUNDATION: LITTLE ONES (5-8 YRS)
Children love to sing! Whether its a catchy jingle tune on TV or the songs learnt in nursery school, children consume songs like flowers attract honeybees! Songs are the medium of instruction worldwide for little ones and it’s a proven fact that that children (or people for that matter!) remember lyrics of a song more than any text or phrase taught! Our brains are simply wired that way and there’s no going around it.
The Unwind School is stepping up on that fact and introducing a Music Foundation course for the little ones – a course that will strengthen the knowledge of melody & rhythm using simple tools like Solfege, the piano, flute Recorder and a repertoire of songs to learn from.
What is Solfege? Made popular from the song“Doe a deer” or “Do Re Mi” from the soundtrack of the movie ‘Sound of Music’, solfege comes from the Italian term ‘solfeggio’ which is basically from the 2 syllables ‘Sol & Fa’ used in the musical scale of 7 notes.
‘Solfege’ or ‘Tonic sol fa’ is the basis of melody and learning how to sing using solfege is a proven tool used probably from the 18th Century or earlier. In Indian music, solfege can be compared to Sa re ga ma so to speak.
